SALISBURY Stingrays’ swimmers Phil Muspratt and Rob Langan posted a series of brilliant results in Swansea for the Gas Long Course Masters Championships.

About 300 hundred swimmers from Europe flocked to the Welsh 50m pool for the three-day competition.

Langan took on a gruelling set of swims but managed a well-deserved bronze in the 200m backstroke. He also came agonisingly close to two more medals in the 50m & 100m backstroke, taking fourth spot in both events.

He said: “Finishing third in the 200m backstroke was positive as I tend not to enjoy the longer swims but it has given me renewed focus to continue in this event.”

Jones and Co sponsored swimmer Muspratt also had a pleasing championships despite recently having seven stitches removed from his right leg following an accident on the way to work.

His lack of fitness due to the injury didn’t show in the 50m and 100m freestyle as he took gold, which he backed up with silver, and a personal best of 28.96secs, in the 50m backstroke.

“Considering where I was less than two-weeks ago, I’m delighted with the result,” Muspratt said.

"Surprisingly my swim of the weekend was the 50m backstroke, very much my fun event and I came away with a personal best. I was well chuffed and glad to end the event on a high.”
