SALISBURY Stingrays Masters’ team headed to Swindon at the weekend to tackle the second round of the Masters County Championships.

The entire team performed brilliantly, with swimmers taking medals across their respective age groups. For the women, Leslie Maynard took four wins from her four swims and Kelly Steenkamp also swam brilliantly, taking three individual silvers, a relay silver and bronze.

For the men, Phil Muspratt and Sam Greenslade took three wins from their three individual races, with both swimmers adding a relay gold to their collection and Muspratt bagging an additional relay bronze.

Joining the 100 per cent winning record were Chris Jessup and Wade Graham.

Salisbury now have a commanding lead going into the final round in October at home pool Five Rivers Leisure Centre.

The team scores after two rounds are: Salisbury Stingrays: 249, Swindon Dolphins: 167, Corsham: 122, Bradford on Avon: 114.

JAMES Stocks-Reid from Salisbury Stingrays competed in Loughborough at the Leicester Penguins Level 3 Open Meet.

Bidding to qualify for the ASA National Championships later in July, Stocks-Reid was in brilliant form.

The Salisbury swimmer came fourth in the 100m butterfly in a time of 1minute 3seconds. A PB followed in the 50m freestyle in a time of 25.79 seconds. 

Stocks-Reid’s medal haul started with the 100m freestyle as he swept for silver in a new PB time of 55.26 seconds. A bronze medal followed in the 50m butterfly in a time of 28.35 seconds to complete his weekend’s work.
