SHREWTON played their wet weather Get Out of Jail Free card to remain top of the Hampshire League with their four-match unbeaten County Division 1 record still intact.
Facing Gosport Borough's daunting total of 319-7, Shrewton - at 81-3 in reply - faced almost certain defeat.
But then the rain came 20 overs into the Shrewton innings - and the game was abandoned.
If five more overs had been bowled, Shrewton would have lost.
New Zealander Shaun McCarthy, with a 22-boundary 114, and Michael Jenkins (89) shared a second wicket stand of 183 as Gosport powered past the 300-run mark.
When rain hit Privett Park, Shrewton were 81-3, Rich Barnett 31 not out.
Shrewton host Fareham & Crofton on Saturday (1pm).
