TABLE-TOPPING Shrewton handed out a six-of-the-best tanning to Locks Heath, thumping the visitors for a season's best 319-5 before completing a comprehensive 125-run victory.

It was the Shrews’ sixth straight County Division 1 win - a run which gives them a commanding lead over Lymington II at the top of the Hampshire League.

Richard Barnett led the way with 104 and shared significant partnerships with Sam Gillott (56) and later Dan Bingley (80) as Shrewton ran riot with the bat.

Stuart Cruse (24), Chris Brewer (21) and Tom Pottage (18) all chipped in as Shrewton's total rocketed past the 300-mark.

Marcus Jenkins (3-61) and Paul Clancy (2-35) tore into the Locks Heath top order, taking three early wickets before James Hughes (84) and James Griffiths (58) redressed the balance.

But once the partnership was broken, Shrewton completed their 24-point mission, with Jamie Mitchell (3-47) and Sam Gillott (2-0) finishing the innings at 196 all out, 54 of which were extras.

Shrewton visit struggling United Services Portsmouth on Saturday.
