LIZZIE Clifford of City of Salisbury narrowly missed out on a medal at the English Schools Athletics’ Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. She took fourth spot in the final of the 400m hurdles in her closing appearance at this event.
For Alex Mundell, fighting off a flu bug was as great a challenge as the competition in the 1500m steeplechase, and she did well to finish tenth, though some way off her true form. Ottilie Knight made her debut at these championships but was not able to go forward from the early rounds of the javelin.
Jake Ness qualified for the final of the 400m but picked up a tight hamstring in the process so withdrew from the next round to ensure he’s fully fit for forthcoming international duties.
On the road, at the Yeovilton evening 5k series, Adam Bradburn was the club’s quickest with 19min 36sec and he was followed by Simon Wiltshire 20.21, Aly Sloane 22.45, Steve Lomas 23.45 and Gordon Wiltshire 31.00
