DESPITE their uncertain future, Salisbury City will play their first fixture at the Ray Mac on Saturday.

Former Whites’ player Scott Bartlett will bring a team from Forest Green Rovers to Salisbury for a pre-season friendly, which will be the first game played at the Ray Mac since April.

The Whites, who have lost a number of players during all their financial troubles, will be playing a team of triallists assembled by potential new manager Steve Claridge.

Mark Winter, one of Salisbury City’s new consortium board of owners, said: “Given all the torrid events of the summer, many of us wondered if this day would ever happen.

Although the legal wrangles and the appeal to the FA and football conference has been delayed, the preparations for the season cannot be delayed any longer.

“This Saturday’s fixture is vital, not just so Steve can run the rule over a number of players, it is also vital to help the club raise some much needed income.”

He said the board of directors have had some amazing support from hardcore supporters, businesses and the city as a whole in the last few months and they hope to see the same support on Saturday by people turning up for the friendly.

Kick-off is at 3pm and tickets cost £7.50 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for children.
