TOM Morton hit an unbeaten century as cup holders South Wilts booked their place in a second consecutive Ageas Bowl Southern Electric twenty20 final with a 20-run victory over Sarisbury Athletic.

Morton carried his bat and completed his hundred off the final ball of South Wilts' 189-3.

He hit four sixes and nine fours in his 100 not out, sharing a half-century start with left-hander Tom Pearce (18).

South Wilts took advantage of some ordinary Sarisbury Athletic bowling, despite having a new ball in hand.

Charlie Esson (18), Ryan Burl (22) and Joe Cranch (17 not out) also weighed in as South Wilts put the game just out of Sarisbury's reach.

Sarisbury made a decent fist of their response and, after losing Jonathon Norris (17) and Pete Hammond (8) to the leg spin of Jake Foley (3- 44), had managed to rack up 79-2 on the board after nine overs.

Kieran Geyle (33) took a distinct liking to Ryan Burl's leg spin, twice hoisting his Zimbabwe Under-19 teammate into the nearby allotments.

Matt Journeaux (22) and Jack Lovett (21) did their bit, but with South Wilts energetic in the field, Sarisbury were always behind the required run rate.

With wickets continually being lost - teenager Jack Richards (3-32) took three as five went down for 14 runs - the cup holders took a firm grip.

Sam Floyd smashed three big sixes in the final over as Sarisbury closed a creditable 169-9, but suffered a third successive semi-final defeat.

In the other semi-final, Lymington chased down Havant's 193-4 (Ben Walker 81) to win by five wickets with Darren Cowley (61) and Damien Mortimer (52) both chipping in with half centuries.

à South Wilts are involved in ECB twenty20 Cup southern regional semi-final action on Sunday, 12.30pm, when they face Kent champions Beckenham at Horsham. Ashtead play Hastings & St Leonard's Priory in the other tie. The winners go through to the Sky Sports televised final showdown.
