IT was double success for Fovant Cricket Club after finishing the season with league and cup victories as part of a historic campaign, writes Tim Birkbeck.

Fovant retained the league title for the third successive year, defeating Shrewton on the final day of the season.

A week later, Fovant were lifting the Old Sarum Invitation cup, putting in an imposing 199 runs from 20 overs.

Charlie Sheppard (51no) and Rob Pittman (53no) did the majority of the damage, leaving opponents Chalke Valley with a tough target to chase.

With Fovant’s batsmen doing their job, the bowlers followed suit, applying early pressure on their opposition.

Tom Pearce took 4-15 and Matt Windows managed to claim an incredible four wickets for just three runs, as Chalke Valley could only muster 83 runs.
