A DISAPPOINTING run of form continues for Steeple Langford as the season comes to a close.

A poor performance by the first team against East Woodhay has lead to their second defeat in as many weeks.

Langford started slowly with runs being kept to a minimum, until a decent third wicket partnership between Phil Tompkins (19) and Simon Ford (60) built up 92 runs between the pair.

With East Woodhay dismissing wickets regularly, Langford managed to add some more runs courtesy of Martin Grearson (20), Andy Bennett (15) and Nick Partridge (32), before ending the innings on 210-9.

With Steeple Langford now out in the field they started brightly.

Partridge managed to take an early wicket to give the hosts a fighting chance for a much needed win.

However the experienced pair of Nick Bird and Will Flack stood at the crease for 35 overs, building a partnership of 199 to take the game beyond Langford.

Luke Stephens did take a second wicket for the home side, but the match was already out of reach.

The seconds didn’t fair much better as they also only took two wickets from Great Durnford, who easily chased down Langford’s score of 151.
