COLIN Hopkins described Saturday’s home defeat to Ringwood Town as “disappointing” as Downton FC remain chasing their first three-point haul since their return to Wessex Division One.

The Robins boss watched his side go down 2-0 to an experienced Ringwood outfit, who sealed their maiden win at Wick Lane.

Goals from Mark Bradley and Mark Pudney left the hosts empty-handed.

“As with many clubs at this stage of the season, player unavailability does create opportunities for others but it is necessary to have the strongest squad available regardless of the opposition,” Hopkins explained.

“Our display against Ringwood was extremely disappointing following some excellent performances in our pre-season friendlies and a 0-0 draw in the opening game of the season against Cowes.”

Downton go to Fleet Spurs on Saturday (3pm).
