A SEVEN-wicket win over New Milton II ensured Shrewton a sixth-place County Division 1 finish, writes Mike Vimpany.
Table-toppers for more than half the summer, Shrewton thrived for an early success through Dan Pownall (3-33).
Sixth-wicket pair Steve Tilbury (30) and Dale Wakefield (40) came together for New Milton but their innings lacked any real substance.
Stuart Cruse (2-40) and Sam Gillott (3-16) eked away, leaving New Milton 178 all out.
Will Sleeman (59) and Rich Barnett (44) produced a sound opening partnership to effectively seal Shrewton’s ninth win in 13 games – they had four games washed out, mainly early in the season – before Dan Bingley (38) wrapped things up.
Lymington II won the championship, with Bournemouth, Rowledge and United Services all relegated.
