VETERANS from Salisbury Stingrays Swimming Club Masters have been crowned Wiltshire champions for the fifth time in six years after victory in the ultimate event.

Swimming against clubs across the county at Five Rivers Leisure Centre, the home club stormed home by 200 points to beat Swindon, Corsham, Bradford on Avon, Marlborough, Wootton Bassett and Trowbridge.

The Salisbury team picked up 32 golds, 24 silvers and 19 bronzes on a night that also saw Julia Kemp break several county records.

Shirley Seabrook and Wade Graham also notched up individual ones.

Some of the Stingrays’ talent, whose membership has grown by 20 per cent, have been selected to represent Wiltshire at the South West Region National Inter County championships in Weston-super-Mare in November.

The new season starts in February with a gala in Trowbridge but club members will be practising before then.

Anyone interested in joining can visit the club on Monday nights at 7.30pm.
