SHINY silverware is up for grabs on Saturday when Salisbury RFC look to engrave their names on the Dorset and Wilts Senior Cup Final trophy.

The Castle Road outfit face a stern test against opponents Swanage and Wareham, who are in a rich vein of form at the top of Southern Counties South leaderboard, winning all nine league matches.

The two lock horns on Saturday (2.15pm) at North Dorset RFC and Salisbury’s first team manager Matt Pallas is feeling assured about the showdown.

“We're feeling confident that we're good enough to win on Saturday but need to ensure that we perform for 80 minutes.

“Swange and Wareham are rightly at the top of the league.

“However, when we played them last we only just lost to them (15-28).

“We know we have the performance and ability to cause them real problems. What went wrong in that game is something we can fix as a group of players.

“We need to be patient with our phase play, we need to earn the right to go wide and try and score.

“We can't let the referee’s decision, that may go against us from time to time, be a factor for us to lose our focus.”

Salisbury slipped up on Saturday by a single point to Wimborne but Pallas says they cannot afford to be sloppy in the crunch cup final.

He added: “On one occasion against Wimborne on Saturday our first up tackling was really poor, allowing them to run a try in against us, again we need to focus and concentrate throughout.”

The winner will play their Berkshire counterparts in the RFU Intermediate Cup.

North Dorset’s ground is also hosting a final between Swindon College and Blandford.
