BULFORD’S Millie Knight excelled in the Disabled Alpine Skiing World Championships.

Visually impaired Millie alongside sight guide and British Army captain Jennifer Kehoe won the UK’s maiden World Cup Globe in alpine skiing at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Alpine Skiing World Cup Finals in St Moritz.

They saw-off competition from the American team and Sochi bronze medal winners to win the overall World Cup Crystal Globe in Giant Slalom. This is the first time the highly coveted Globe has been won by a British athlete in either able-bodied or adaptive sport.

Jennifer joined forces with 16-year-old Millie Knight, a VI athlete on the British Disabled Ski Team, in February 2013. Their first competition as a team was the Austrian National Championships in March 2013, where they won Bronze in both the Slalom and Giant Slalom races. They qualified for the Paralympics in Sochi in March 14, but Jennifer sustained a serious knee injury during training and was unable to compete with Millie.

After intense rehabilitation, they are back racing together and saw golden success in their first races together in December, winning all six races and far exceeding their own expectations for the comeback.

In the World Cup they won three golds and one silver medal before taking the Crystal Globe Trophy. The pair have recently partaken in the World Alpine Skiing Championships in Canada.

Their aim is to reach the 2018 Paralympics in South Korea.
