BRITAIN’S mountain bike orienteering world cup middle distance champion Emily Benham launched her title re-claim assault with a win.

The Morgan’s Vale star, who lives in Norway, raced home two minutes ahead of the field in Vargesztes, Hungary.

Benham also won the mass start event, beating a Finnish rider by 42 seconds.

nThe British Sprint and Middle Distance Orienteering Championships were held at Aldershot.

In the M70A sprint, Ian Peirce took sixth place and Jan Belza eighth. Jackie Butt came fifth in W50A and Charlotte Thornton fourth in W70A. Butt took second place in W50.

Charlotte Thornton claimed another fine fourth place in W70 and Ian Pierce was fourth in M70 to complete good results for Sarum Orienteers.

Sarum members also provided orienteering-based entertainment for youngsters at the sprint event with nearly 100 children and parents enjoying the Sarum o-maze, animal challenge and round the rugby pitch courses.
