SALISBURY FC's new-look squad is into double figures after the club captured two glovemen.

Experienced 33-year-old Gareth Barfoot is joined by Dinton teenager Monty George as boss Steve Claridge completes number 10 and 11 signings.

George, 18, a product of Whites' youth academy who has just finished his A-levels at Bishop Wordsworth's, joins from Mikey Harris' Portsmouth Under-18s.

He also represented England Schools in an international tournament.

Older teammate Barfoot brings a wealth of experience to Old Sarum, having spells at Gosport Borough, Christchurch, AFC Totton and Eastleigh.

“These signings show up my policy, really,” said Claridge. “I want a blend of experienced pros and promising young players for the Wessex League.

“There will be times when we need the older heads and others when fresh young talent is the order of the day.

“We now have two quality goalkeepers who will both serve us well. I am confident of that.”

A week Wednesday sees Salisbury start their pre-season programme at Dorchester, who replaced original opposition Swindon Supermarine (7.45pm).
