SALISBURY FC face their biggest pre-season test tonight when Premier League newcomers AFC Bournemouth visit (7.45pm).

It will be the Whites' fourth friendly after already pitting their wits with Dorchester Town, Bristol Rovers and Laverstock and Ford.

They welcome a Cherries side who are fresh from beating League Two Exeter City 2-1 on Saturday.

Ray Mac boss Steve Claridge says he's been assured that counterpart Eddie Howe will be sending a strong squad to Old Sarum.

“We’re all really looking forward to this one,” said Claridge, who has recently had a hair transplant.

“Eddie says it will be a good side and it’s a great chance for their fans to see how they are shaping up ahead of life with the big boys and for our fans to see how our new side copes.”

“Naturally everyone wants to play in this one.

“I might also want to look at another couple of triallists.

“We also have two more potentially big signings I am interested in coming to training on Thursday, with a view to playing at Portland on Saturday.”

The match is being treated, pricing wise, as a Wessex League game.

Adults £8, £5 concessions and under-16s, accompanied by an adult, £2.

Turnstiles open at 6.30pm.

Bristol Rovers wonderkid Lamar Powell, who was one of the first to sign for Claridge, has left the club by mutual consent.
