SHREWTON took less than ten overs to breeze to a fourth straight County Division One win after routing Portchester for a meagre 54 on a rain-affected surface at Cams Hill School.
Jamie Mitchell (4-21) did the damage, blasting out four of Portchester’s top five before Will Harries (4-13) and Marcus Jenkins (1-19) completed the task of dismissing the hosts for their lowest total in years.
Shrewton’s run chase was not without its dramas – one calamitous run out and two more wickets leaving Rich Barnett, with 28 not out, to complete the formalities.
It wasn’t all good news for second placed Shrewton – they finished the game so early (3.30pm) that the tea hadn’t enough arrived by the time they set off for home.
