A COOL Chris Breeze delivered an incredible spell of eight wickets for 19 runs to secure a one-sided 182-run win over Brockenhurst.

Winterbourne lost two early wickets after deciding to bat first, but Craig Johnson and Richard Johnson put on a 168-run partnership for the third wicket, each scoring 87 runs before Johnson was caught in the 31st over.

Craig followed shortly afterwards and a flurry of runs at the end from Ed Dadd (22*) and Malcolm Griffiths (13*) took the score up to 278-7.

Chasing an imposing 278 total, Brockenhurst started slowly with the batsmen unable to get the opening bowlers of Chris Warde and Joe Cunningham away. Cunningham took the first wicket by bowling Shah in his fifth over and then had Williams caught by Breeze for 16.

Breeze replaced Cunningham and took a wicket with his first ball and then struck again five balls later to start with a double wicket maiden. He did exactly the same in his second over and by this stage had taken four wickets for no runs. A few balls later he had taken five wickets in 11 balls.

It looked like Brockenhurst would be bowled out for less than 50 when the score reached 47-8 but the tail wagged to put on another 49 runs before they were eventually bowled out for 96.

Winterbourne retained third place in Regional Division One (West).
