ACCOMPLISHED finishes got Salisbury FC's Wessex Premier account off-and-running at the third time of asking.

A majestic free kick from Tom Whelan and a Callum Brockway header secured the Whites' first three points haul of the season.

Cheered on by a vocal travelling contingent of 500 plus fans at the Portway Stadium, the Whites were keen to avenge the disappointment from their opening results against Brockenhurst (0-0) and Whitchurch United (1-2).

Inside the opening ten minutes, Kane O'Keefe's shot forced a diving save from Jamie Bray, falling to the feet of Sam Wilson who fired against the woodwork.

Brockway then used his aerial prowess to outleap the Andover defence but his header went past the post.

Salisbury continued to mount pressure on the hosts and cheap fouls were being given away from Andover, who were being overrun in midfield.

One of which led to Salisbury's opening goal, and their first away one of the campaign.

After 25 minutes, Whelan, bended a free kick some 25 yards from goal into the top corner.

As the half got older, both sides were denied by the upright.

Lewis Benson's free kick found its way to Sammy Pecan. He drilled across the area which ricocheted off O'Keefe's boot and onto the post.

Down the other end, Claudio Herbert's corner caused mayhem in the area and first to react was Wilson. He took a touch before unleashing onto the crossbar.

It was evident from the Whites' impetus in the second half they were looking to double their lead, quickly, and so they did in the 49th minute.

A set piece was floated into the box and Brockway timed his jump to perfection as he looped his header over the deserted Bray.

Andover managed to get the ball over the line but it was disallowed for a foul on Gareth Barfoot.

Whites are back in action on Friday night when they host Lymington Town (7.45pm).
