ROBUST Redlynch and Hale refused to be rolled over when losing an instrumental player to a nasty ankle injury and a match delay as they skipped out of the relegation zone in County Division Two.

They overcame the loss of Kev Hopkins, who was hospitalised after receiving on-field medical attention, to record a crucial win over Liphook & Ripsley 2nds at Woodfalls Cross, bowling the visitors out for just 95.

Dave Webber ( 2-13) struck twice, early doors, with good support from Nathan Pollard, who was unlucky to remain wicketless.

Hopkins (3-18) delivered another fine spell but it was curtailed in his sixth over when he sustained a nasty injury, and needed an ambulance and hospital treatment for damaged ankle ligaments.

Skipper Ian Tanner stepped in to finish the over and went on to mop things up with 3 for 11. The match was delayed for nearly 45 minutes as Hopkins couldn't be moved from the pitch until the paramedics arrived, so a revised target of 72 was calculated.

Webber fell to a return catch to David Elliot, but Tanner (14no) and Glenn Willoughby saw them comfortably home in just ten overs, with the latter smashing eight fours and a six in an unbeaten 38.

This ensures a difficult but nail-biting finale as the Woodfalls Cross outfit take on league leaders United Services, whereas their nearest rivals have a home clash with second to bottom Old Netley & Highfield.

Elsewhere, Guy Lucas, 14, racked up a personal best of 159 to secure a comfortable win for the thirds in their Regional Division 4 clash over Sway.

Guy mustered 16 fours and 12 sixes as his side posted 237-8 and, in reply, the visitors were all out for 66.

The seconds, however, fell 118 runs short as they could only muster 95-8 against Bransgore seconds.
