A DEDICATED manager, head professional and greenkeeper at High Post Golf Club scooped an illustrious award.

Peter Hickling, Tony Isaacs and James Friend were chosen in Golf Club Managers’ Association’s (GCMA) Team of the Year for their "outstanding work" over the past 12 months.

The announcement was made during a sell-out GCMA 2015 Conference at St George’s Park on Monday night, following rigorous assessments at Fulford Golf Club, York and onsite visits from the judging panel.

Isaacs, the club's head professional, was recognised for his work with Women into Golf campaign at the High Post which saw more than 50 women join and undertake a two-phase coaching programme.

Colleague and greenkeeper Friend alongside his team have improved the quality and condition of the golf course in the past two years.

The club also has a thriving bar and catering team that delivers healthy trading surpluses and an assistant manager in Chris Mathews who provides a good level of administrative support to general manager Hickling.

He said: "The fact the club managed to pick up this prestigious award for its efforts is amazing and a tribute to all of the club officials and volunteers who make it such a privilege to be part of this exceptional team.”

High Post pipped Royal Cromer Golf Club in to second place in the category.

The reward for the trio is a trip to the Open Championship.

Bob Williams, GCMA CEO, said: "The team at High Post are fitting first winners as they demonstrated a superb working relationship that is helping to drive the club to new heights.”
