A LATE strike from Ronan Clancy secured a 2-1 win for Salisbury City Under-16s over BCW Saints in the Junior Premier League.

Jacob Colligan's opener was cancelled out by Fred Davies until Clancy popped up with the crucial blow for the win.

Both teams started well in the wintry conditions at Bulford 3G.

Salisbury won several free kicks in almost identical positions, with Jim Ward coming the closest with his effort skimming the frame of the woodwork.

Salisbury created a few chances to score but failed to convert as Saints’ defence were solid.

Some good work down the right wing saw Colligan again get into an advanced position, this time he floated the ball from distance and beat the Saints keeper, putting Salisbury 1-0 up.

Saints started to work harder in the second half as they searched for an equaliser and were unlucky when they had a very good attempt saved on the line by Jim Ward.

But the visitors got their just rewards when Salisbury failed to clear from a corner and Davis slotted home with ten minutes to play.

Salisbury dug deep and pressed BCW back. Ryan Penny made a perfect move to the edge of the box and tucked the ball into the net, however he was ruled offside. Both sides continued to look for the winner and it came when Clancy scored Salisbury's second and winning goal.
