SKIPPER Kane O’Keefe will appear in the last 16 of the FA Vase for the second time in three years when Salisbury travel to Nuneaton Griff a week on Saturday.

The hard-working midfielder was part of the Bemerton Heath Harlequins squad that went to Spennymoor, a town in County Durham, in 2013.

He was also with teammate Danny Young, whose dramatic injury time winner over Blackfield and Langley sent them to Spennymoor, where he put them in front.

O'Keefe was also on target that day but Harlequins narrowly lost to the red-hot favourites, who went on to lift the trophy.

"They were the eventual winners of the competition and we held our own again," said O'Keefe, who was at Laverstock and Ford last season.

"It ended up 4-2 and we had our chances. Danny played and scored after a minute but, as it happened, they had a bit too much for us."

But this time round O’Keefe believes Whites have enough quality to play at Wembley as they are a force to be reckoned with.

He said: “There’s a slight difference, I suppose, with this squad and Harlequins’ squad. No disrespect to that but I’m a lot more confident within this squad that we could probably get there.

“We’ve got as good a chance as anyone. It’s good, I’m looking forward to it.”

O’Keefe has scored in all but one of the six matches Whites have won to progress to the fifth round of the competition, amassing eight goals in total.

They came against Wincanton Town, Folland Sports, Calne Town, AFC St Austell and Highworth Town.

The only game he didn’t score was in the last round at AFC Dunstable, where he spoke of a potential 90 minutes at Wembley.

He added: “I fancy us against anyone if I’m honest.

“There’s obviously the two big teams which are mentioned, Hereford and North Shields [holders].

“I’ve thought about Wembley. I’m not going to lie and say I haven't.

“It’s the pinnacle for any footballer. Particularly at our standard.

"We won’t get the opportunity again, I would have thought."
