A RESOLUTE Havant thirds held Salisbury Hockey Club firsts to a 1-1 draw at Lower Bemerton.

After a rare defeat last weekend, Salisbury were looking to get back to winning ways at home against mid-table Havant.

And the hosts made a bright start, putting Havant under pressure high up the pitch, although chances on goal remained few and far between as the first half finished goalless.

Salisbury continued to press Havant and got their reward ten minutes after the restart.

A slick passing move led to Tom Morton crossing for Dom Welman who cashed in.

But the lead lasted just minutes as Havant restored parity.

A misplaced pass from Mike Spice was intercepted, allowing the Havant striker to get into the D and score with an accurate finish.

Captain Andy Renshaw, whose side are now winless in two games, said: "It's disappointing not to get back to winning ways, but it was a good performance and we continue to create chances so I'm sure the results will come."
