But Bemerton weathered the storm and Russell Cook secured the points with 11 minutes to go.
Two minutes later and Portchester were reduced to ten men - Craig Hardy was dismissed for a rash challenge on Griffin.
'Quins are unbeaten in their past four games, being last defeated by rivals Salisbury.
