A FEAST of football is coming to the Ray Mac - just 24 hours after the Whites will lift the Sydenhams Wessex Premier crown.

Two football matches, youth games, bouncy castle, climbing wall, face painting and a barbecue will be at the club’s Family Fun Day on Sunday, May 8.

The centrepiece clash is at 3pm where Salisbury Legends will take on Salisbury Charity Stars.

Starring for the legends are former Salisbury City boss Mikey Harris and ex-players Brian Dutton, Scott Bartlett, Aaron Cook, Declan McGregor, Danny Webb, Ian Chalk, Charlie Knight, Kevin Sawyer, Bobby Andrews and Wayne Turk.

Current Salisbury players Callum Hart, Adam Kelly and Robbie Matthews will also feature.

Depending on end of season commitments, Eastleigh’s Matt Tubbs could also be making an appearance.

For the charity stars, Journal’s Joel Holt and Alex Rennie, Spire FM’s Martin Starke and Valley News’ Will Bradley will play among a number of FC Salisbury United players and Redlynch Seniors.

Before that at 12.15pm, Salisbury Supporters’ Club will take on Birmingham Blaze, who are set to descend on Old Sarum as champions of the Gay Football Supporters Network National League.

Blaze, founded in 2005 and European Championships winners last summer, campaign for equality in football and work closely with Football versus Homophobia and professional teams such as Aston Villa and Birmingham City.

Organiser and supporter Thom Belk explains the idea behind the fundraising day.

He said: “I came up with the idea of forming a Salisbury Legends match as many of our great players have never had the opportunity to say goodbye to the fans or get the appreciation they deserve from supporters for the contributions over the year."

“In the side are all time greats and cult heroes throughout the years, it’ll be a grand occasion.”

Proceeds raised from the event will go to the Claire Brown Neurological Treatment fund and Salisbury FC Supporters Club.

He added: “I hope we can raise lots of money for the neurological treatment that Salisbury woman Claire Brown desperately needs and for r the hardworking Salisbury FC Supporters Club who provide funds for the club to operate."

Admission will be £5 for adults and £1 for children.

Gates will open at 10am ahead of under 10 matches featuring Salisbury FC, Porton and Alderbury at 10.30am, to be followed by Salisbury Under-13s v Winchester Under-13s.

The club are looking for a match sponsor and sponsors for the match day programme.
