SIX players found the net as Bemerton Heath Harlequins posted their highest score of the season after trouncing relegation-threatened Alresford Town 8-1.

Lewis Cook and Jack Lovell scored two apiece while there were goals from Sam Griffin, Bradley Magookin, Dan Thomson and Jack Slade in the remarkable scoreline for Graham Kemp's charges.

The floodgates opened four minutes in at Western Way when Cook stabbed home Jack Lovell's low cross.

Sam Griffin missed a penalty but further goals from Cook and Thompson gave Heath a 3-0 advantage at the break.

The hosts continued to capitalise on the weakened visitors, who finished second in the the league standings the season before last, scoring three more times in the opening 11 minutes of the second period.

Lovell nodded home, Brad Magookin flicked a header past Will Barnett and then Lovell added a sixth after a surge through the middle.

Alresford debutant Louis Baldacchino scored an excellent consolation goal on 59 minutes, curling a long-distance shot over Max Frampton in off the underside of the Bemerton crossbar - but that was as good as it got.

Further goals from Griffin and sub Jack Slade made it eight late on.

It was a fifth win in six games as Heath continue their charge up the Sydenhams Wessex Premier table with two games to go.

They have two away trips in as many days. Fareham Town is up first on Thursday before going to Horndean on Saturday.
