A NEW record has been set by promotion-chasing Amesbury Town.

The Blues registered a sixth successive clean sheet in their 4-0 victory at Hythe & Dibden.

Gloveman Paddy Creese, who has now gone 540 minutes without conceding a goal, was last beaten between the sticks on March 31 at Romsey Town.

He was merely a spectator in Saturday's victory as Josh Thomas and Nic Turpin did the damage with doubles to secure their eighth win on the trot and edge the Blues closer to promotion from Sydenhams Wessex Division One.

The first goal arrived at Clayfields on the stroke of half time. Thomas popped up with a powerful header from Kieran Stephens’ corner.

The two combined again, four minutes into the second half, as Stephens provided a long throw for Thomas to plant home.

Amesbury got their third on 59 minutes when Thomas turned provider by heading on to Turpin who volleyed home.

And seven minutes later the scoring was wrapped up when a Matt Cox free-kick found Danny Finnigan who squared to Turpin, and he was able to slot home.

nADAM Pearson received a 182-match ban from all football after shoving referee Steven Topazio in the chest, and saw red.

It was his punishment from Wiltshire FA following the incident in Amesbury Town’s derby at Downton in January which saw the game abandoned after 66 minutes.

His ban ends on July 25.
