IT was busy weekend for Salisbury Tri Club (STC) athletes.

They turned out in force at Durrington Sprint triathlon on Sunday to claim an impressive team win over STAR with some great individual performances.

Scott Hill came second overall in a time of 57 minutes. Next over the line for STC was Dave West in a speedy 1.02. Close after was James Presley in 1.04, followed by Joff Croom in 1.09. Adam Philips was next in 1.14, with Sue Dowding two seconds behind placing third female and first in category.

Fifteen seconds later Irfon Thomas finished also with 1.14, then Jen Witt came in next at 1.16.

Debbie Nash crossed the line in 1.19. Sandra Price completed her first ever triathlon with a strong finish time of 1.35; Peter Clements followed her with 1.39.

Elsewhere, Mary Clements took part in the Royal Wootton Bassett Sprint Triathlon, comprising a 400m swim, 22k bike ride and 5k run. She crossed the line in 1.56, second in category.

David Hartley and Belinda Vohra encountered very challenging and wet conditions at the Grand Shaftesbury Tri with large puddles and gravel on the bike course and a boggy run. Coming off the bike on the last lap with a puncture cost him valuable minutes and a podium position. Nonetheless, Hartley managed to secure fifth place in the standard distance race, with a time of 2.48. It was Vohra's first time at this distance. Despite stopping to help a fellow racer who was injured in a crash and also getting a puncture about one mile from the finish, she completed this muddy race in 4:11.

Rob Lush took part in the inaugural West Country Ultra Flat 50-miler on Saturday. Heavy rain for most of the day slowed proceedings but he finished in a shade over 11hrs for around 53 miles. He was the six finisher.
