SOUTH Wilts enjoyed a perfect week as they seek cup and league triumphs.

The Under 15s faced the long trip to Royal Wootton Bassett on Wednesday evening, where they were greeted by a soaking ground and wicket for their County Cup semi-final.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat but made little headway in the first eight overs against James Wade and Akram Ghauri. Ben Huntley proceeded to take three wickets as Bassett posted just 48-6 off their 20 overs.

With the wicket drying, batting was extremely difficult and the coach warned the visitors that the score was only 20 short of a decent score and so it proved as South Wilts collapsed to 25-4. Thankfully Miles Kantolinna and late call-up Ed Wade steadied the ship and saw their side to the target with no more alarms for a comfortable six-wicket win with five overs to spare.

South Wilts face Corsham at home in the final.

The under 13s followed suit two days later in their County Cup last four contest which was home against Corsham. Again the weather caused problems with the pitch damp and threatening clouds overhead.

The home side were made to work hard for their runs early on but Ed Wade and George Milton both hit retired thirties as they posted 128-1 off 20 overs.

Corsham made decent progress as Flynn Day hit 30 but once he had retired and spinners Wade and Ben Higton were involved, the result was never in doubt. Corsham battled hard but ended on 114 all out in the last over.

South Wilts will visit Winsley or Biddestone in the final.

The under 13s then faced a decisive game in the Wiltshire League against high-flying Cannings/Potterne.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat but would rue their decision as, despite a good start, the spinners ripped through their batting. James Brewer picked up 4-18 as Potterne were bowled out for 119 in 32 overs.

The hosts changed their batting order and had little trouble recording a nine-wicket win in the 22nd over with George Milton hitting 52, ably supported by Oli Carr-Smith and a glut of extras.
