WILTSHIRE over-60s' cricket captain Tim Mynott has received an England call-up.

He’s been selected for the Seevent England 60+ ‘Ashes’ tour to Australia in November.

Mynott, whose son Jack plays for South Wilts firsts, is in a party of 17 veteran cricketers who will play 13 matches, including three One Day Internationals, Down Under between November 21 and December 15.

A chartered accountant, based in Coombe Bissett, Mynott has been a lead player in recent seasons for Wiltshire in the Seevent Sixties County Championship.

A right-hand upper order batsman and medium-pace bowler, Mynott described his England selection as “a real honour” and a “significant bonus” for Wiltshire cricket.

“It’s been a fantastic week for our Minor County, with Liam Dawson and James Vince – both Wiltshire raised – playing for England against Sri Lanka in the T20 international at the Ageas Bowl.

“My 60s selection pales against that, but it is fantastic Wiltshire vets cricket has been acknowledged in this way.

“I’m delighted to be in the party and it will be quite something to represent my country in what is certain to be a challenging cricketing environment.

“We have some top players in the tour party, but this will be no holiday – certainly on the cricket field,” he smiled.

Mynott’s England party, which includes Hampshire’s 60s skipper Geoff Beale, will play games in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

Their demanding itinerary ends with two matches against full Australian XIs in three days in Adelaide.
