WHITES' patchy away form continued at the hands of promotion-chasing Evesham United following a 3-2 defeat.

The visitors dominated the opening quarter and should have been ahead but paid the price on 35 minutes.

Lance Smith sent a stooping header past Alex Bass to give second-placed Evesham the advantage.

The Robins doubled their lead midway through the second half when a 25-yard shot by Joe Turley was deflected in by Ashley Williams.

Evesham were then reduced to 10 men when Lewis Binns was sent off for an alleged headbutt.

But the numerical disadvantage had no bearing as moments later an Adam Mann corner was headed in from six yards by Nick Stanley to make it 3-0.

The outcome was all but decided but Whites sparked a revival with eight minutes remaining.

Carl Brown committed a foul in the box and Tommy Wright scored with the resultant penalty to set up a tense finish.

Evesham, watched by 402 fans at The Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium, failed to clear their lines and substitute Claudio Herbert, back from injury, prodded home to make it 3-2.

The home side managed to keep Salisbury out in the dying minutes and record an 11th successive victory.

Despite the defeat, Salisbury stay in eighth spot where they are still six points off the play-offs in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West.

They look to close the gap on their rivals when hosting Winchester City in the cathedral derby tomorrow night (7.45pm) which will see former striker/defender Robbie Matthews, nicknamed 'Mooncat', make his return to the Ray Mac for the second time this season.
