INJURY-STRUCK Salisbury dropped out of the play-off places after their six-game winning streak was ended by ten-man North Leigh on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat.

Justin Bennett got Whites up-and-running within six minutes of the Southern League Division One South and West contest.

The marksman netted his 19th goal of the campaign when firing past Millers goalkeeper Manny Agboola.

The hosts had their tails up and Tom Whelan, back from holiday, hit the bar, before Eddie Perrett forced a save from Agboola.

North Leigh grew into the game and Salisbury keeper Alex Bass, whose loan spell has been extended by parent club Portsmouth until the rest of the season, tipped Stuart Hole’s 27th-minute free-kick over the bar.

Bass then denied Bradley Gray as the Millers trailed at half-time.

The visitors started the second half strongly, and got their reward on 71 minutes when they capitalised on a Bass error.

The young keeper's poor kick fell to George Seacole who, from more than 35 yards, passed the ball into the net.

The second arrived eight minutes later as Seacole raced forward and clipped the ball past Bass from 12 yards.

Millers' top-scorer has now made it five goals against Whites, having hit a hat-trick in the corresponding fixture back in October.

Matt Sysum was sent off for North Leigh on 88 minutes for a foul on the edge of the area, but they held on.

Whites are now in sixth place, one point behind fifth-placed Swindon Supermarine after 25 games.

Whites: Bass, Colson, Flint (Herbert 73), Whelan, Wheeler, Parselle, Benson, Onoufriou, Wright, Bennett, Perrett.

Subs not used: Walsh, Ball.

Attendance: 738.
