BEMERTON Heath Harlequins are through to the semi-finals of the Russell Cotes Cup.

Scott Joyce netted the deciding goal against Southern League Division One Central outfit Fleet Town to book Heath's place in the last four.

That was Bemerton's third successive win, having beaten Brockenhurst 2-0 on Friday night in Sydenhams Wessex Premier.

"It was a good win," said a buoyant boss Graham Kemp.

"We stood firm. Fleet had the majority of possession and missed a couple of early chances but to be fair their keeper pulled off three or four outstanding saves and on clear chances we deserved to win.

"We are getting injured players back now so I am hopeful to continue improving."

They are joined by AFC Portchester in the hat, who defeated Petersfield Town 2-1.

Elsewhere on Tuesday night, Amesbury Town were consigned to a 3-1 defeat at home to Fareham Town.

Fareham's new boss, Pete Stiles, made an instant impact as he hoisted them off the foot of the the Premier Division.

Tyler Brockway had given Blues a second-minute lead from the spot, who then hit the bar.

The visitors fought back through Curt Robbins, Jay Ripiner and Simon Woods.

Talking on Amesbury's first defeat in the league since early December, manager Jim Macey said: "It was a very poor performance and the lads looked tired and it was sloppy play from us.

"We need a big response Saturday."
