SALISBURY could do with a cash boost, according to chairman David Phillips.

Phillips was asked about the club's finances during Thursday's (January 5) fans' forum by supporters.

He says although the accounts are in good order, additional sponsorship or a large donation would enable the club to bolster.

Talking at the meeting, he said: "How are we doing financially? We could do with some more money.

"The commercial side has done pretty well up to the Christmas period but it does tend to fall off a bit in the second half of the season.

"We could do with a bit more commercial sponsorship. We've got one or two leads we are working on.

"We had a meeting with the board just before the evening and we've discussed the financial situation. We're looking at figures at the moment and we may put a little bit extra in. We've been very good up to now.

"We're in the situation now where we might have to supplement it slightly but nothing huge.

"When you get things like a £3,000 water bill, that makes you suck in your breath a little bit.

"There are some big overheads and this place costs a lot of money to run.

"We have to be very conscious about making sure we are getting best value for everything we can and being careful with what we do.

"We are doing okay, but yes we need a little bit more input and we are very happy to take anything that the supporters' club feel that is surplus to their requirements."

He added: "If anyone would like to throw a few bob in we'd be more than happy to receive it as a donation, and that's serious."

The club say they will publish their accounts in June.

Phillips has been chairing the new club since it re-formed two years ago.
