SHARP-SHOOTING Salisbury recorded their biggest league win of the season after hitting Wiltshire rivals Swindon Supermarine for six at the Webbs Wood Stadium.

The Whites had to come from behind to earn a 6-1 victory, which consolidates fifth place in the Southern League Division One South and West table.

After a misjudged clearance from Eddie Perrett, Brad Hooper pounced on the edge of the area and took his time before drilling low past Alex Bass on 11 minutes.

Soon after, the visitors levelled matters when Tom Whelan's floated corner met the towering figure of Brian Dutton who netted his first goal since returning to Salisbury with a glancing header.

Justin Bennett then ended his three-game goal drought when stabbing home Lewis Benson's menacing cross on 34 minutes to give his side a 2-1 lead at the interval.

The pressure continued in the second half as a rampant Salisbury went on a goal-spree, netting four times.

Bennett sent a powerful shot at Connor Johns which he spilled into the path of Whelan, who spun 180 degrees before slotting into the empty net.

Then, Tommy Wright got in on the act. Taurean Roberts' cross midway through the half deflected into Bennett's path and he provided a cushion header for his striking partner to blast home.

A fifth was netted on 77 minutes as a deep cross by Elliot Wheeler was volleyed home by Roberts, who netted for a third consecutive game.

And in added time, a defence-splitting through ball found Wright and he rounded Hooper before tucking away.

All teams around Salisbury won apart from Evesham United, who were beaten 4-1 by Winchester City.

Nearest challengers are Mangotsfield United, who are three points behind after 30 games played and 12 remaining.
