APPLICATIONS are being welcomed for the role of chairman at Amesbury Town next season.

Steve Pearce is stepping down from the position in June after three years at the club.

Having previously been a member of the club’s management committee, Pearce took on the chairman role in 2014.

In that time, Amesbury gained promotion to the Wessex Premier League, the highest level they have played in non-league football, as well as winning the Salisbury Hospital Cup in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

“The decision to step down from this role has purely been taken due to changes in my personal circumstances, primarily a new job and the birth of a new grandchild, which means that I am unable to fully commit the time and focus that the role justifiably requires,” said outgoing Pearce.

“While that is the case, I will very much miss being involved in the day-to-day running of Amesbury Town, a club which, with the right person at the helm, has the potential and current level of dedicated support from its committee and first team management to sustain its position in the Wessex League and develop from there.”

Anyone interested in applying should contact vice-chairman Spencer Mulholland on amesburytownfc@gmail.com or secretary Chris Green on 07581245510.
