SALISBURY boss Steve Claridge, with his team currently in second, insists that “only we can lose it”, ahead of their final game of the season away to Bideford AFC on Saturday.

The Whites are now in pole position for a home advantage in the play-off semi-final, following their 5-2 win over Wimborne Town.

Salisbury left it late to snatch all three points at the Ray Mac, as they were trailing 2-1 with just over 20 minutes to play.

Goals from Kane O’Keefe and two each for Lewis Benson and Tommy Wright made sure that the Whites took pole position heading into the final game of the season, as Taunton could only draw 0-0 at home to Bideford.

The second half took a while to catch fire, but the Whites got their equaliser through substitute Wright grabbing his first of the game. But Wimborne struck back just minutes later to give them their lead back, through Louis Kellaway flicking the ball past Bass.

Salisbury’s comeback started in the 83rd minute, following a long throw Benson was able to get on the end of to smash home making it 2-2.

Just minutes later, O’Keefe put them ahead, with a cute flick into the bottom corner, the Whites were then awarded a penalty after substitute Claudio Herbert was fouled in the box, Wright dispatched with ease.

The comeback was completed in the 93rd minute, Benson grabbing his second of the game with a great curling effort from outside the box.

Whites boss Steve Claridge spoke to Journal Sport after the game and said: “We didn’t play very well.

But thankfully we got the goals at the right time.”

He also added regarding their current league position: “I wouldn’t swap places with anyone now we are in the box seat and it’s up to us. Only we can lose it.”
