SALISBURY FC have added Wantage Town forward Mark Francis to their squad ahead of next season.

The 22-year-old scored 18 goals in 40 appearances for Oxfordshire side, who only managed to score 29 league goals in total last season and came second from bottom of the Evo-Stik Division One South and West. 

The former Swindon Town player, was released by the club in 2014 and since then has spent time with Didcot Town, Chippenham Town and Frome Town, before signing for Wantage Town.

The Whites scored eight goals against Francis’ old club when the clubs played each other last season, the 5ft 11in striker started when Salisbury netted seven past the side in April.

This is Salisbury’s fifth signing as the club look to bolster the squad ahead of next seasons campaign. 

The club are still in the market for a new goalkeeper after Alex Bass returned to his parent club Portsmouth and the club have said that they are in talks with a player.

The club start their pre-season with a home game against Portsmouth on Saturday, July 1 and this will give fans a chance to see boss Steve Claridge’s new signings in action.
