WOODGREEN CC beat Gosport Borough II by three wickets, having bounced back with a much-needed away win after a disappointing loss at Mudeford .

Gosport batted first and were 61 for 2 after 20 overs and were soon 69 for 3 after 24 overs with openers Ross Harrop hitting 22 and Tony Stares hitting 31, then Lyndon Strong hit 39 off 59 balls and Gavin King with 56 from 37 balls.

But Jacob Patton was then the only player to score double figures in the last 17 overs for Gosport, hitting 29 to end their 45 overs on 221 for 9 wickets. Wicket takers for Woodgreen included Ian Cousins 3 for 25 , Angus Harley 2 for 25, Mark Penny 2 for 28 and Jason Naish 1 for 29.

After losing an early wicket Woodgreen’s reply recovered with a second wicket stand of 42 between Penny who hit 19 from 28 balls, including three fours, and Stuart Nash who hit a half century from 76 balls, including eight fours, which took the score to 49 for 2.

The score was then doubled before the third wicket fell and 49 runs were added by the now struggling Nash and Laurence Harding, who ended up 94 not out with 12 fours.

Harding and Andy Parker then hit 40 before the fifth wicket fell.

Jack Griffiths hit 16, before being run out, as was Jason Naish who hit eight. Chaz Potts also hit eight including 1 four to take Woodgreen past the 221 mark to win, by three wickets, with 10 balls to spare.
