KANE O’Keefe struck his fourth goal in four games for Salisbury yesterday.

But it wasn’t enough to spare the Whites a 2-1 defeat at North Leigh in the Evo-Stik South West.

Salisbury created plenty of chances but were twice hit on the break by a direct North Leigh side who took the lead when Roger James’s shot deflected in off Jake Wannell midway through the first half.

O’Keefe cashed in on Lewis Benson’s cut-back just after the hour and, at that stage, it looked as if Salisbury would go on and win it.

But the Oxfordshire hosts had other ideas as James pounced again for the winner 15 minutes from time.

Salisbury’s new signing Rhys Baggridge had had an effort ruled out for offside and the referee also waved away a couple of Whites’ penalty appeals when Marvin Brooks and Tom Whelan looked to have been impeded.

It was Salisbury’s first league defeat of the season and they must now look to bounce back against AFC Totton at the Ray Mac today at 3pm.
