AMESBURY Town, saw off Bashley in a seven goal thriller at Bonnymead Park on Saturday, coming out 4-3 winners.

Combined, both sides had relatively poor defensive records coming into the game, and it didn’t take long for the trend to continue.

After a relatively tepid opening section the game sprang into life in the 10th minute, with Connor Miller forcing Bashley’s keeper to save.

But eventually did take the lead through, Liam Gavin.

However the lead quickly vanished and they soon found themselves 3-1 down after just 23 minutes. Well taken finishes by Kabba Jack and Conor Whiteley reversed the scoreboard before a penalty Lewis Ross, strengthened Bashley’s grip on the game.

The Blues pulled a goal back through Luke Greenway, he coolly slotted the ball home.

However that was it for the first half as both sides failed to capitalise on further scoring opportunities.

The lack of finishing would ultimately cost the away side as two Amesbury substitutes ensured all three points.

First Gio Downie latched onto a smart through ball from Kieran Stephens to ram home the ball on the 85th minute.

A few minutes later the home side would expose Bashley’s defence again in a similar fashion as Jordon Matthews slotted past the diving Edgar to register his first goal the season.
