POPPY Cleall and England Women ended their Six Nations campaign with a bonus-point 33-11 win over Ireland at Ricoh Arena, Coventry to finish second in the competition.

Alderholt-born Cleall picked up her 22nd cap in the game and started at number five.

Despite England dominating the early possession, it took until the 11th minute for them to take the lead as Danielle Waterman secured her place as outright leading try scorer on 47, overtaking Sue Day, when she dotted down from Katy Daley-Mclean's perfect grubber kick.

Marlie Packer then went over off the back of a superb driving maul from 15 metres out, and it was an almost identical maul on the other side of the pitch that saw Amy Cokayne cross as England established a 19-6 half time lead.

Ellie Kildunne's clever show and go saw her collect her fifth try of Six Nations, before Amber Reed hit an excellent deep line of Daley-Mclean's pass to stroll in.

Ireland went over for a consolation score in the 70th minute when Claire Molloy crossed from a maul, adding to two earlier penalties.

With France beating Wales it means England relinquish the title they won last season and finish second by three points.

Earlier in the Six Nations, Cleall scored her first England try in the 42-7 victory in Italy and then scored twice in the 52-0 win over Wales.

England then beat Scotland 43-8, before a narrow 18-17 loss to France.
