Clean sweep for South Wilts

SOUTH Wilts Cricket Club enjoyed a highly successful weekend with all four of its teams winning their matches.

The club's first team made it two wins in a row by defeating Totton & Eling by 56 runs.

Skipper James Hayward won the toss and after electing to bat saw his side post a total of 170.

Eddie Abel top-scored with 50 - Andy Hayward, 13, Rob Pittman, 12, and Simon Branston all contributed down the order.

However, Totton - one of the early season title favourites - were rocked by a stunning bowling performance by the Salisbury outfit.

James Hibberd, 3-7, Ross Crick, 3-22, and Simon Branston, 3-26, all played their part in Totton's downfall.

South Wilts' second string defeated Totton & Eling's seconds by 150 runs, while the thirds had Sam Pittman to thank for victory over Petersfield.

His unbeaten 36 in a tenth wicket stand of 30 saw them home.

The fourths completed the quartet of wins - Chris Abel hitting 73 as South Wilts triumphed by nine wickets.
