SOUTH Wilts Cricket Club’s juniors completed a clean sweep of Wiltshire Youth Cricket League titles after their under 15s completed a 121-run win over Wootton Bassett in their final match.

Going into the match, South Wilts knew they faced a tough task to secure enough bonus points to overtake Swindon at the top of the table.

Sam Arnold (46) and a quick-fire 41 from Will Wade set them well on the way but at 100-1 a mini-collapse saw them slip to 113- 4. With the aim to score 200 in 40 overs to enable an early declaration and additional bonus points, Tom Barrett (35) and Miles Kantolinna (21) pushed them onwards.

However, it looked like they would fall short as they reached 194-9 with one ball of the 40th over left. Ben Makin however kept up the hopes as he dispatched the ball over midwicket for six.

A target of 200-9 in 50 overs was tempting for the hosts but an early strike each by Sam Burton and Adam Hudson left them on 22-2.

Tom Lewis (2-16) made a double strike and three wickets for Sam Arnold (3-13) saw the visitors secure the win in the 32nd over at 79 all out.

Meanwhile, South Wilts under 11s finished off their season with a seven-wicket win over Chippenham.

The visitors were bowled out for just 59 with Ben Higton and Chris Chaddock both picking up three wickets. The hosts cruised to their target with Ayush Chavan (18) and Edward Wade (20 no) top scoring.
