LYMINGTON are bracing themselves for a trial by spin when defending ECB Southern Electric Premier League champions South Wilts visit the Sports Ground tomorrow (11.30am).

Premier Division winners for the past two seasons, South Wilts have named a staggering five slow bowlers in their line-up.

They include promising teenage Essex spinner Jake Foley, pictured, who has joined the Bemerton club from Colchester & East Essex, for whom he took 31 wickets last summer.

A former Felsted schoolboy, Foley will play cricket locally prior to starting a degree course at Southampton Solent University in the autumn.

He will share the spin bowling responsibilities with Eddie Abel, Rob Franklin, James Hayward and teenager Jack Richards, who has made an encouraging start to life in the South Wilts first team.

James Hibberd will share the new ball with 16-year old debutant Mike Cutts.

Lymington have three enforced changes, with Damien Edwards promoted after last weekend’s unbeaten 112 against New Milton II and Paul McCann also called up after an impressive bowl in the same match.

Out are broken finger victim Guy Layman, Ben Rogers and all-rounder Matt Metcalfe, who took a career-best 9-51 in the corresponding Time pennant match last season.

Red Hot Chili Peppers fan Metcalfe is at the Isle of Wight Festival.

Lymington: Beetham, Mortimer, Hand, Grierson, Scott, Edwards, Cowley, Beetham, Ellis, Goodchild, McCann, Freeman.
