SOUTH Wilts could find themselves facing currently injured Hampshire allrounder Liam Dawson when they open their defence of the Southern Electric t20 Cup on Sunday June 29.

They have been drawn away to the Hampshire Academy, who they beat last month, in a tie that Dawson, currently side-lined with a groin injury, has targeted as his comeback.

“I'm looking to get back in the first team for the NatWest t20 blast against Middlesex in early July, but late June is a realistic date for me to aim to start playing again,” he said.

“It's a great draw for the Academy lads and South Wilts have fond memories of lifting the trophy under the Ageas Bowl floodlights last season.”

The Academy-South Wilts showdown is one of two all- Premier Division ties.

The other sees Bashley (Rydal) host Lymington in a New Forest derby.

Paultons' reward for beating Portsmouth is an attractive home tie with Ventnor, while Burridge face an awkward trip into the Itchen valley countryside to play Tichborne Park.

Full draw: Alton v Sarisbury Athletic, Andover v Hartley Wintney, Bashley (Rydal v Lymington, Bournemouth v Havant, Hampshire Academy v South Wilts, Old Tauntonians & Romsey v Basingstoke & North Hants, Paultons v Ventnor, Tichborne Park v Burridge.
