WILTSHIRE’S group match in the Unicorns Knock Out Trophy on Sunday at St Austell was abandoned as a ‘no result’ because of rain, with each side taking a minimum one point each.

Cornwall won the toss and put Wiltshire into bat with rain forecast in the early afternoon.

The visiting side made a good start with Tom Morton being particularly aggressive with two sixes in his run at ball 26.

Debutant Luke De Souza, batting at number three, made 43 as Wiltshire reached 91-2 off 22 overs. Then once again they found life difficult against the spinners, Brad Wadland 2-12 and Christian Purchase 2-40 and with two run outs and two wickets for Glyn Furnival, they were all out for a disappointing 140 in 38 overs.

Cornwall started their innings and after 6.2 overs had reached 25 without loss when the rain arrived. After several attempts to restart, the match was abandoned as a ‘no result’ as 10 overs is the minimum required to constitute a game.

Wiltshire’s last group match in the trophy is on May 17 against Devon at Warminster at 11am.
