ROB Pitman hit a century for South Wilts in the Southern Electric Premier Division 3 match with Gosport – only to be gazumped by Borough’s Australian overseas player, who won the match for the visitors.

Pitman made 108 for South Wilts – it was his second SPL century – hitting five sixes and 13 fours.

He arrived at the crease with SW going nicely at 120-2 on the back of efforts by youngsters William Wade (25), Ben Draper (34) and younger brother Sam (23).

Pitman saw SW to 260 – a total Gosport successfully chased down for the loss of five wickets with two overs to spare, Blake Maher hitting an unbeaten 105 after Wade had taken three wickets for the hosts.

South Wilts 3rds lost by 8 wickets to OTs & Romsey 3rds. Huge availability problems plus a lost toss on a wet wicket did not help the visitors who could only post 102, before being bowled out in the 31st over. Dan Wall battled hard to top score with 26 but to little avail as wickets fell around him.

The hosts had little difficulty knocking the runs off for the loss of 2 wickets in the 24th over (Ian Tulk 41no).
